Carinn x OOTD: Suspended in Mid-air

As promised, I will be posting details of my monthsary outfit today. You can read more about my monthsary celebration in my previous post HERE. I've gotten so used to the stares that I don't mind taking outfit photos in public now (omg what is wrong with me). A little word play on the title, as I took this at Skypark... also because I was wearing suspenders and a midi skirt (haha omg I'm so lame).

I am a believer of trying new things. For this look, I tried on items that initially made me doubt whether I can pull off, but I was quite pleased with the final combination.

Midi skirts can be flattering and versatile, best if they're body-hugging kinds. It accentuates your curves, and is perfect for formal or informal occassions. As a petite lady, I always assumed that midi skirts made me look stunted- it cuts off my leg mid-way. But I've found the solution.. My tip is to wear combat boots if you're going for a more street style. Or, a pair of heels never did anyone wrong. :) To avoid looking too bulky or stunted, try a cropped top or patterned top to take attention away from your bottom half.

Stripes and the colour red are like the perfect couple to me. You don't even need to accessories as the colour and print goes so well hand-in-hand. If red isn't your thing, try burgundy which is a shade of red that isn't too loud.

You don't see many people wearing suspenders nowadays. People always associate suspenders with nerdiness. It may be an obsolete trend, but I honestly think it's a fun and unconventional accessory to add to your outfit, especially for fall. Channel your inner Charlie Chaplin! Top this classic look off with red bowler hat and red lips and voila, you've got a street style that's not too edgy but is elegant as well!

Sometimes it feels like we are suspended in mid-air, stuck in between what we like, and what we fear. Things you like may be what scares you. But ultimately, don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone.. Who knows if you will find something that you'll like?

Do hype me on Lookbook if you like this look! Let me know what you think, and if you'd dare to try out this look too :)
