Hair (HiShop Review Campaign): BAWANG Anti-Hair Fall Shampoo & Conditioner Professional Pack

Omg I can't believe I'm reviewing this. People are gonna think I'm balding XD Well, I'm sure many of you have heard of BAWANG Shampoo, endorsed by action superstar Jackie Chan. Just to be clear, I've actually used this brand a few years back to curb my oily scalp problem but after that, the product seemed to lose its hype and I didn't see it being sold at many places so I stopped using it. The reason I accepted the review was because I really believed this product works and I'd like to share it with you guys! I guess the target audience for this post would not be teenagers and youngsters XD

BAWANG (read this as Chinese pinyin, not 'onion' in Malay ok :p) is a well-known brand in China and gained popularity a few years back due to (I think) the pretty humorous ads starring Jackie Chan. Long story short, my dad used to use this shampoo too which is how I came to know it. The BAWANG Anti-Hair Fall Shampoo is formualted and manufactured by BAWANG International Scientific Research Centre, China's foremost centre for Trichology research to effectively address various hair fall causes. I've chosen the BAWANG Anti-Hair Fall Shampoo Professional Pack from Hishop to review as it is suitable for both men and women.

From the external packaging, you can tell that it is pretty traditional. The ingredients used are mostly Chinese herbs. I think it's the best of both worlds to combine traditional Chinee medicine with modern technology to create something that works. Inside the box is a 200ml bottle of BAWANG Anti-hair Fall Shampoo, with Malay words as well (I think the labels are specially modified to suit locals?). This set also comes with a free 80g BAWANG Anti-hair Fall Conditioner worth RM18.90.

The BAWANG Anti-hair Fall Shampoo Pro Pack is effective for hair call caused by:

Seborrheic Alopecia - hair fall caused by excess sebum secretion on top of scalp

Androgenic Hormone Baldness - hair fall caused by excess androgenic hormone on top of scalp

Pathological Baldness - hair fall caused by imbalance of microelements on scalp

And more - hair fall caused by work stree, environmental pollution, incorrect method of hair wash or hair treaments (perming, dyeing, etc).

BAWANG Anti-Hair Fall Shampoo

From the outside, this bottle looks so.. vintage! Jade green and gold really reminds me of olden China days haha. The main ingredients are various Chinese herbal extracts including Chinese Arbovitae Leaf, Ginger and Ginseng that are combined using unique TCM formula. It is said that the main benefit of the shampoo is that is mildly soothes the scalp and solidifies hair root to reduce hair breakage. Regular usage of the shampoo transforms out-of-control thin hair into voluminous and shiny hair that looks healthy and is ready to style.

The shampoo itself is a yellow & whitish with a gel-like texture. Even before squeezing it out, I could smell the strong herbal smell already. The solution doesn't lather much when in contact with water. To use, massage an appropriate amount onto wet hair for 3 to 5 minutes. After that, rinse out thoroughly with warm water. As the shampoo is mild enough, you may use it daily.

Tip: No using hot water because it might cause more damage to your hair!

BAWANG Anti-Hair Fall Conditioner

The packaging of this Anti-Hair Loss Conditioner is more.. generic, I would say? Very simple black and white packaging and wordings. Using this conditioner is an important second step to beautiful and healthy-looking, smooth hair. It is recommended to use this conditioner after using the anti-hair fall shampoo for optimum results. Using the same TCH formula and 100% natural herbal essences, this conditioner can effectively reduce hair loss and restore hair to its original full volume, colour and shine.

Again, the conditoner smells of herbs too but not as strongly as the shampoo. It comes out of the squeeze tube in the form of a white paste but looks dryer compared to other conditioners I've used. After rinsing the hair, apply an appropriate amount of this conditioner onto your hair and massage for 2-3 minutes then rinse off with warm water.

Tip: Apply conditioner to hair tips to avoid getting oily scalp.

Now it's time to dry your hair! Tip: Don't be too harsh when drying with a towel to prevent more hair breakage as hair is most fragile when it is wet. Try and use a cooler setting on the hair dryer as well to prevent getting split ends and frizzy, dry hair.

I've been using this hair pack for about a week now. I tried a comb test before I started which is brushing my hair 5 times before bathing to get the tangles out and see how much hair I've dropped. Admittedly, my hair fall problem is much better now that I'm not in uni anymore. My dorm room used to be filled with my hair what with study stress and unhealthy eating. My hair is usually quite tangled as I don't like to comb it frequently so you can see how gross the hair brush looks with all that hair in it! Eww! Do note that it is perfectly normal for an average human being to lose up to 100 strands of hair a day!

After using the shampoo together with conditioner, you can see how much the condition has improved! I applied the same comb test (brush 5 times) and there is visibly less hair accumulated on the brush (and my shower) now! I wouldn't say my hair feels 'stronger' but it definitely looks much healthier and shinier!

Another good thing I TOTALLY did not expect from using this shampoo is that it gives me great 'waking-up hair' the next day. No more ugly bed-head, more like naturally stylish hair as I jump out of bed, as seen here :p I guess this is because my hair is smoother and more manageable now. 

BUT!!! BAWANG shampoo & conditioner is definitely NOT suitable for people who cannot stand the herbal smell. My bathroom smells like herbs everytime after I bathe now and I'm not sure how much I like that ._. And yes, the smell does linger in my hair as well -_- It does go away after a few hours but I apply hair oil on my hair before I go out, just so I don't smell too much like an old person XD
