I hope this chio pic of us managed to grab your eye hehe. The highly-anticipated Guardian annual health & beauty fair is back! Themed Confidence Creation, Guardian Makeover 2016 hopes to empower women with tips & tools to look good and stay healthy over 3 consecutive weekends. First stop? In City Square, Johor Bahru! I attended the press conference the day before and decided to get my friends to attend the makeover session with me the next day.
As the leading pharmacy, health & beauty retailer in Malaysia, Guardian has taken on a synergistic role to encourage its customers to lead an active lifestyle. The Guardian Makeover, now in its 9th year, is part of Guardian's efforts to empower women and the community in general to take charge of their health & overall well-being. What Guardian hopes to achieve with this fair is not only to give thousands of women a makeover they deserve, but to help them feel more confident and exuberant as well. This fair is also done in conjunction with International Women's Day in early March, hence the theme 'Confidence Creation'.
The fair is open to anyone with a ticket which can be obtained with a purchase of RM50 on any participating brands in Guardian. The first thing you will get at the door is a FREE goodie bag! That alone is worth RM50 & above already, and there's so many goodies in the bag!
Some participating brands in the fair are Catrice, Enchanteur, Eucerin, Hada Labo, Lakme, Lip Hop, L'Oreal, Maybelline, Revlon, Sensodyne & more. It's basically a one-stop shop area as you can get all the health & beauty stuff you need, coupled with tips from the friendly assistants standing around to assist you.
At the very centre of the fair is where all the fun happens - the Makeover booths! I love these vanity mirrors with Hollywood lights! Guardian has partnered with Makeup Puzzle and various makeup artists and A Cut Above Academy so you only get the best people to do your hair & makeup. Aside from a FREE hair & make-up styling, you are also entitled to a FREE photo session!
There was quite a big crowd that day, seeing as it was a weekend but we 3 managed to get our turns at the makeup booths fairly quickly. I actually went out with no makeup that day just to get my makeover done haha. My makeup artist, Genie, talked me through the look she'll be doing but basically, the looks she does are quite simple ones for everyday wear. However, participants may also opt for more fit, fancy, fun & fabulous looks while the makeup artist gives you some tips.
Most of the cosmetics used are sponsored by the partner brands but I ain't complaining, I love drugstore makeup! :p This actually kinda looks like my dressing table XD
After I'm done with my makeup, it was time to move on to the hair styling station. There were a number of looks that you could pick from and I chose one of the FUN styles!
Princess Neverland and I getting our hair done. We feel so pampered! Oh yea, I actually got my bf to come along with us but if your family is in tow, not to worry as there are other activities to be done too while they're waiting for you to get your makeover done. There are various activities planned such as live makeup demonstrations and exciting games to win prizes as well!
The end result. I loved it! It's a hairstyle that I know I'll never be able to do on my own. At one point, there were 2 person working on my hair just to speed things up a little.
After we're done with our makeover, what better way to make it last forever than with a mini photoshoot? We opted to get our photos taken together so that we kinda look like a K-pop girl group XD After that little shoot, you get to bring home the prints too for commemoration.
The Guardian Makeover 2016 is also made merrier with the Missing Hijabi Search organised by Hijabista magazine whereby they are looking to cast the next new Hijabi model! Those who are interested can participate by purchasing products of any amount at the on-going fair along with the publisher's combo of magazines. Go try your luck! Who knows, you might end up being the next big thing?
Did I mention that you can win prizes just by shopping at the fair too? With a minimum spending of RM20 at any of the participating brands' booths, you will get this Stamp Redemption Card that you can use to collect stamps at each different booths and win exciting prizes. While waiting for the girls to get their makeover done, I walked around to check out the booths and talked with the attendants. They might get you to play some mini games to earn the stamps, you never know! After you have collected all 12 stamps, it's time to...
...head on over to the Spin The Wheel section to spin! 4 stamps entitles you to one spin so with 12, I get 3 spins. I saw the host Caely trying it out the previous day and was intrigued what the prizes are.
Woot! Got myself two 'Mystery Prizes' which is the adorable bear & duck bath loofah & hairbrush and a cute pink bear! Gave Eryn the bear for her daughter and one of the loofahs to Princess hehe.
Finally, here's my completed look of the day! Princess said it kinda just looks like my regular makeup look LOL I kinda agree but I love the combo with the hairstyle! Haven't attended any events in a while and I definitely had fun at the Guardian fair. Can't wait till next year! You girls should definitely drop by the nearest Guardian Makeover near you these weekends for some fun & beauty-related stuff!
The 2nd leg of the fair was held at IOI City Mall in Putrajaya from 26 - 27 March while the third leg is happening this weekend at Queensbay Mall, Penang from 2-3 April 2016. Customers can also check out Guardian's limited edition tote bag, available for RM19.90 at Guardian stores nationwide, while stocks last! Have fun! :)
