Have you ever wanted to experience snow in Malaysia? The weather has been sweltering hot lately that it makes me wish for the cooling 22-degree weather again... or even the coldness in Europe! I was lucky enough to experience fresh, thick snow in St. Wolfgang, Austria when I was there last November. But I never thought I'd get to experience real snow again so soon, especially in my own country! How is that possible, you ask?
AEON Mall is organizing the Enchanting Snowfall Event for the 3rd
year in a row! The event started last December in Shah Alam and has now made
its way to Johor! We were invited to the kick-off session at AEON Mall Bandar Dato’ Onn which was nearby my house on 6th
– 7th Jan. I really didn’t know what to expect, but it’s a good
excuse for me to break out some winter gear like my boots and beret to dress
for the occassion :p
There
was a long queue before every session started, so make sure you go earlier!
Unlike
most ‘snow’ events in Malaysia, Enchanting
Snowfall is the first ever outdoor snow event that uses REAL ice to create
the snow so yes, it is actually cold (and wet!). It is also the reason why kids
were given raincoats and adults were given shower caps to protect them from
getting soaked. You can see the staff putting in giant ice blocks to create the
‘snow’ before proceeding to spray it out from a large ‘pipe’, quite interesting
to watch!
Look
how happy and excited everyone was!
This
outdoor event is open for kids for free and parents accompanying the children can
queue for it between 3pm and 5pm. From 7pm onwards, the event is open to all.
At 5pm, there will be a Junior Fun Snow
Hunt event which allows children aged 12 years old and below to hunt for icons
buried within the thick layer of pre-sprayed snow to win prizes! All you have
to do is register and redeem for one FREE Entry Pass with purchases of RM30 and
above in a single receipt during all event days. (That’s a random kid next to me btw, but I really liked this shot XD)
When
you walk inside the mall, you would see ‘igloos’ decoration around too in
conjunction with the snow theme. There’s even mini ‘snowman’, so cute!

Since
the event is not usually open to public in the daytime, we were really lucky to
get to go in. If you were to bring kids there, my advice would be to wear long
sleeves and possibly waterproof clothing to avoid getting wet like us cos we
played for few rounds and we were standing directly where the snow was
dispersed (case in point: the photo above where we got soaked that Edlyn had to
go H&M to buy a new shirt after that HAHA XD). The snow is quite chunky too
XD But all in all, really fun!

I
went back to the mall at night to see how it’d look at night. Too bad I didn't get many pretty shots as it was too crowded.. It’s a totally
different view in the day and nighttime! Though the event was slightly delayed
for half an hour when we were there due to the rain, it was still a lot of fun.
Thankfully AEON Bandar Dato’ Onn has such a pretty Bear Garden to host the
snowfall event in. I saw many adult and kids alike, selfie-ing and playing with
the cold snow with bare hands like making snowman and snowballs. (Ok I edited
the snowman clothes in the pic above cos he looks too bare, very cute right!)
If
you’ve missed the January Enchanting
Snowfall Events, fret not as they will be ongoing in every weekend of
February too! More event details at your nearest AEON MALL below:

your family and kids to go for this event now before they bid us farewell!
