You guys don’t know HOW EXCITED I
am to be in the dentist’s chair! T.T I am picking up where I left off on my Invisalign journey with Dr
ST Tiew of White Dental CosmeticCentre. ^^ I
went for my first treatment at the Bangsar South branch on May 27th, which is pretty similar to
my previous first consultation process, but I’ll still fill you guys in on it
since a lot of you seemed to have enjoyed my previous posts J Thank you for all the emails all these
while, I’m stoked to be able to reply you guys with clearer and more details
now!
White Dental Cosmetic Centre
is just one of the many branches available in KL, but my treatment will be done
at the Bangsar South branch which is located in Wisma Life Care itself. I heard
from my friends that the building is known to have many prestigious healthcare
providers there, so I feel assured to do my treatment here. The clinic is
located on Level 2 with a comfortable setting. It’s usually pretty packed on
weekends, but I was lucky enough to have a spot to meet with Dr Tiew!
Speaking of him, he is such a
cute man! We had a short chat and consultation before proceeding with the first
part of the treatment which include the preliminary analysis of my teeth,
X-ray, making of the mould and image capture. I was surprised at how high-tech
the analysis is as we are able to see the insides of our mouths from a camera
that links to the TV on the wall mounted in front of where the patient lies.
Gone are the days where we had to hold a mirror to see what’s happening inside
XD
Next, I had to take an X-ray to
see if my teeth were suitable and ready for the treatment. I had to wear a vest
while getting the X-ray done, but I forgot to remove my earrings, so you could
still see it in the X-ray image haha. Basically, all I had to do was bite down
on the plastic knob and the machine rotates around my head to get a full view
of my teeth inside. The whole process took less than 10 minutes and the results
were generated in a jiffy.
FYI, since my last treatment, my
2 wisdom teeth grew and it kinda messed up the previous progress already (and
also cos I did not wear my retainers regularly, oops :x). I also learnt that
the bottom wisdom tooth is going to give me some problems in the future so we
will have to see whether I need to extract it or not. As you can see from the
image above (my teeth are quite long even though I’m so tiny haha), the bottom
left (bottom right in the photo) wisdom tooth lies near a nerve so there are
some risks involved – like numbness in the bottom left of my mouth for life o.o
– if I were to do a surgery to extract it. However, if I don’t extract it, it
might disrupt my straight teeth in the future or possibly even decay as there
is a gap between the two teeth there. Well, I don’t have to make that decision
yet so.. We shall see how it goes..
I’m embarrassed to say this, but
I had 4 bottom tooth that needed filling. >< Dr Tiew did such a quick and
painless job though - you can see how the decaying parts are removed and
patched up nice & clean! We had to do the filling first
before taking the mould in order to get the most accurate results.
Next comes the most “torturous”
60-seconds of the process which every brace-face will relate to – the
mould-taking. XD Ok lah, I might be exaggerating a little but honestly, it’s not
THAT bad- just a little uncomfortable to have the soft jelly pressed against
your teeth for that one minute. J I have very bad gag reflex, and actually gagged a
few times when the substance was in my mouth and almost touching the back of my
throat.. But I survived the ordeal and we got the perfect mould in the end!
Finally, we had some photos taken
for the Before and After process. It was weird having the prongs in my mouth,
not gonna lie XD I’m sharing some of the pictures with you guys (I still have
uglier ones, but I’m not gonna post that lol). Don’t laugh at my ugly teeth cuz
you’re gonna regret it when I have straight teeth after this :p
Can’t wait for the ClinCheck
report to be out this month! I’ll update you guys more on my 2nd
treatment follow-up soon. J I’m most
probably going to do extraction this time round in order to speed up the
Invisalign process, so in the meantime, I’m just going to eat as much food as I
can! Actually as per my past experience, the Invisalign treatment does not
really get in the way of eating nor does it restrict the type of food you can
have. I was still able to enjoy my favourite food when I’m not wearing the
aligners. It has also helped me to practice good oral hygiene cos you will have
to brush your teeth after each meal, before fitting the aligners on. The best
part is, no one knows I’m wearing the aligners as it is clear and can’t be
spotted. I can’t believe how much I’ve missed wearing aligners - can’t wait to
kick-start the process!
I hope to share more with you
guys on the how Invisalign can be assimilated into your daily lifestyle needs.
Having your teeth realigned can be a comfortable process that provides a boost
to your confidence at the same time. I believe I have covered most of the
technical part as I have tried to explain as best as I could in simple terms in
my previous posts. If you’re still interested to know more, feel free to check
out the Invisalign Diary here!
In the meantime, don’t forget to
check out White Dental Cosmetic Centre on Facebook and their website. Also, follow my
new hashtag #InvisalignCarinn and also #InvisalignMY and #MadeToMove for more
updates! <3
