It's summer, the perfect time to immerse ourselves in nature. For beauty lovers, another alternative instead of being outdoors all day, is to immerse ourselves in beauty products made with ingredients from nature instead. :p I love trying out new beauty products, so I was seriously stoked when I was chosen by The Butterfly Project Malaysia to test out SEP Korea Masks! SEP is one of Korea's leading beauty brand, so I had high hopes for these.
Looking at the colourful boxes make me so happy. I was pleasantly surprised to receive all 4 variants of the SEP Masks. Plus points cos the box that the masks came in was so pretty! Jeju Island is blessed with exotic plants all around, and is also known as the origin land of the mysterious volcanos. SEP products are formulated with clean and natural key ingredients from Jeju Island, South Korea to address different skin types. The brand is representative of Korea's clean sea and healthy beauty. SEP suggests a beauty brand that leads a new trend based on expert know-how and skin solutions that are simple, pure and easy to create perfect skin. Each of the mask variants I received target a specific skin problem and helps to rectify it with each use.
SEP Cactus Fruit Moisturising Mask | RM24.90 (5 sheets/ box)
This SEP Cactus Fruit Moisturising Mask is an ultra moisturising mask that gives dry skin a boost of hydration. It's made with Opuntia Coccinellifera fruit extract from Jeju. I just found out the pic on the mask is prickly pear, did you know they looked like that? :p Other ingredients include aloe vera extract, basil extract, bamboo extract, chia extract and hyaluronic acid. This mask suits people with sensitive skin as the Salvia extract it contains is a herb that is anti-flammatory and has sterilization effect that helps to revive and heal skin. One use revitalises your complexion, gives a moisture and hydrating boost due to the high Vitamin C content in the cactus fruit and helps improve skin's water retention while preventing flakiness. I love this mask as the scent is quite pleasant and it really does lock in moisture of the skin well.
SEP Canola Honey Nourishing Mask | RM24.90 (5 sheets/box)
This is my favourite mask amongst the bunch. The SEP Canola Honey Nourishing Mask supplies nutrients to the skin thanks to the Jeju honey extract ingredient it contains. This mask deeply nourishes, rejuvenates and intensely hydrates the skin. Other ingredients include pennywort, lavendar, royal jelly, aloe vera, chamomile and rose extract - all my fave ingredients and scents! No wonder I love the smell of this mask so much as it's so soothing and pleasant. However, this mask might leave your skin feeling a little stickier after use because of its richness.
SEP Tangerine Brightening Mask | RM24.90 (5 sheets/ box)
I don't really fancy tangerines, but I can still accept it in minor doses in my beauty products haha. The SEP Tangering Brightening Mask contains Citrus Unshiu Peel Extract from Jeju. It promises to brighten dry and dull looking skin and transforms it to clear, translucent skin - just like drinking a glass of orange juice. Tangerine peel, cucumber, daisy, edelweiss, Niacinamide and Harpagophytum extract are just some of the beautiful and natural ingredients in this mask. For those with pigmentation, it is said that this mask can help with diminishing the look of pigmentation as well. Well, never try never know! Personally, I find that this mask does live up to its promise and delivers brighter, more balanced skin after just one use.
SEP Green Tea Soothing Mask | RM24.90 (5 sheets/ box)
My second favourite mask of the pack would be this SEP Green Tea Soothing Mask. First of all, I love green tea and secondly, this mask does not leave my skin feeling as sticky as the rest did. It's light, soothing smell is enough to make one feel relaxed. Since Jeju is famous for their green tea products, it is no surprise that this mask contains Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract from the island, green tea extract, tea tree, propolis, pennywort, lavendar, yam and an ingredient called Tremella Fuciformis extract to comfort irritated skin and help skin renewal. I used this right after going for laser and it really helped to reduce the redness!
As you can see, the mask is dripping with essence and is almost a perfect fit for my small face. Just leave it on for 10 - 20 minutes before gently massaging the essence in for better absorption. Let me tell you, the mask is so soaked that it was still relatively drippy when I removed it!
I like how basic and fuss-free this range of mask is. Many brands now tend to come out with fancy names, 'gimmicks' (think: foil, bubble, gold mask etc) and even methods to use masks but this SEP range goes back to the roots and uses simple, natural ingredients in a regular white cotton mask manner to deliver effective results. My skin is so much smoother and brighter now after using this mask range for a week straight. However, I do have some qualms which is that the mask does leave a sticky feeling behind about an hour after use. There are no instructions to wash off the extract after use so if you can get used to it, then it's fine.
I would recommend you to use it after facial or laser, the effects are that much more significant! I also love that each mask has a significant scent according to their main ingredients that are not too overpowering. It also helps that the masks are so affordable! I looked it up, and one sheet only costs about RM5.90 (now promotion, only RM1!!) from Watsons! Now that the long holidays are near, take this time to really pamper yourself and go back to nature with this SEP Mask range.
